My uncle Jackson was a 19-year-old pilot in command of a Lancaster bomber. He was RCAF on loan to the RAF,103 Sqdn. He was awarded the very rare CGM for Valour for crash-landing his badly shot-up Lanc to save a crewman whose parachute was too damaged to parachute from the aircraft.
