John (Jack) Thistle was my Uncle. He joined the RCAF in 1950. He was an Air Frame Technician and worked on many of the aircraft that Canada used during the Cold War. He made a career in the RCAF, serving on many bases in Canada and abroad for 25+ years. Uncle Jack met my Dad during basic training. They became good friends, and that friendship lead to an introduction to his sister while home in Montreal while on leave, an introduction to my future Mom. My Dad and my Uncle Jack were best buddies. Both were musically talented and would often play guitar and sing together. He recently passed away at the age of 92.
