Globe and Mail article caption, January 2, 1945: Happy to be home after 1½ years overseas, Lt. Col. J. N. Gordon, DSO, 299 Forest Hill Rd, commanding officer of the North Shore New Brunswick Regiment, who arrived at Union Station on New Year’s Day, is reunited with his wife and 5-year-old daughter, Sandra.

Lt. Col. Gordon is a veteran of D-Day, when he went into action as a major in the QOR.

Neil is my husband’s grandfather and Sandra is my mother-in-law… let’s never forget that the peace we enjoy was hard-earned!
