Harry Sewell was born on Glen Avenue in Ottawa in September 1918. As a young man he was an active marksman at Connaught Range and joined the military before World War 2. He was sent to England in 1939 as a dispatch rider and driver in London. He finished his tour and returned to Canada to commence pilot training in Trenton in 1942. After training he returned to England and flew fighters, Hurricanes, Vengeance and Spitfires. He fought in India and Europe. In England he met his wife Lily Vera (Perkins) and she returned with him to Canada as a war bride. After the war he remained in the RCAF until 1970 when he retired. Some of the bases he was posted to were Ottawa, Borden, North Hampton(UK), Marville (France), Hamilton, St. Jean, Goose Bay, and Clinton.
