Walter Grabiec was a member of the First Special Service Force, also known as a the Devil’s Brigade. In 1944 during an operation in Anzio Italy he was injured from a grenade, which ultimately required the amputation of his right hand. After coming home he started working with the War Amps and up until his death in 1992 was an active member.
