Private Harold James Lasky was a member of the Loyal Edmonton Regiment, the “Loyal Eddies”. He took part in Operation Husky, in which Canadian troops fought alongside British, French and American forces in the invasion of Sicily, Italy, in 1943.
The campaign was successful, but Harold was killed in action on July 17, 1943, at the age of 21. He is buried in the Canadian military cemetery at Agira, Sicily.
