Vijay enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces in 2011 and served in the 2nd Combat Engineering Regiment. He notably served in Ukraine in 2018 as part of Operation Unifier, where he used his expertise in Explosive Ordnance Disposal to train local forces in mine clearing. These skills undoubtedly helped save the lives of many Ukrainian soldiers and civilians in the dreadful war that came. Vijay also received his parachute qualification shortly after his deployment to Ukraine. He served a total of 9 years in the Canadian Armed Forces.

In 2020, Vijay joined the Ottawa Police Service and was assigned to Frontline Operations with A Platoon Central. Unfortunately, he died in a motorbike accident while he was off duty. Vijay was well respected by his fellow officers and the Ottawa community, with many remembering him for his kind nature and selflessness.
