Captain (Navy) David Coulson joined the Naval Reserve as a medical officer in 1957 and served for 34 years. Commonly known as “Doc”, he also served as Senior Medical Advisor to the Naval Reserve and was the Canadian representative on the NATO Committee of the Inter-Allied Conference of Reserve Physicians. A milestone in his career was his appointment as Commanding Officer of HMCS Griffon, the first medical officer to hold this honour. Later in his career, he participated in naval navigation control exercises. All who served with him appreciated his camaraderie and leadership. He passed away on December 29, 2022, and is greatly missed by his family and friends.
