Captain (Navy) David Coulson

Captain (Navy) David Coulson joined the Naval Reserve as a Medical Officer in 1957, and served for 34 years. Commonly known as “Doc”, he also served as the Senior Naval Reserve Medical Advisor and was the Canadian Representative to the NATO committee of the Interallied Conference of Reserve Medical Officers. An important milestone in his career was his appointment as Commanding Officer of HMCS Griffon, the first Medical Officer to hold that honour. Later in his career, he became involved in Naval Control of Shipping exercises. His comradeship and leadership were appreciated by all who served with him. He died 29 December 2022, and is greatly missed by his family and friends.
