Trooper (Private) Marc Hani Diab exemplified bravery and resilience.
He was born in Lebanon in 1986. After his family fled Lebanon in 2000 to come to Canada, he remained firmly rooted in his Lebanese heritage and was an active member of the Lebanese community in Mississauga, Ontario.
His dream was to be a soldier.
Motivated by an appreciation of the freedom he witnessed in his adopted country, he achieved his dream in 2006 when he enrolled in the Canadian Army, serving with the Royal Canadian Dragoons. Tpr Diab was deployed to Afghanistan on security operations, where a powerful blast killed him while he was travelling in an armored vehicle on March 8, 2009.
Though he was only 22 years old, he had a lasting impact on his community.
His sacrifice will not be forgotten. We remember him.
