Reginald DeViller was 27 years old, already married with small children when he enlisted for the Second World War. He served as a member of the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps from 1943 – 1946.
Born in Comeau’s Hill, Nova Scotia in 1916, Corporal Reginald DeViller was my paternal grandfather. After the war he returned home to his wife, Rosie and their children. Grampy was always a quiet man and didn’t speak of his time in the war but was a very proud veteran and wore his medals with pride. His medals included: a Holland medal, Defense medal from England, 1939 -1945 Star, France & Germany Star, Italy Star, Volunteer Service Canada 1939-1945 and 1939-1945 medals.
A member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 155 at the time of his death in 2014 at the age of 97. Currently a great-grandson carries on his legacy as a member of the Canadian Armed Forces.
