Thirty-five years ago, while deployed to the Doha, Qatar, during the Gulf War with the USAF’s 401st TFW(P), alongside the Royal Canadian Air Force’s Desert Cats and their CF-18’s, the French Air Force, and our Qatar Emiri Air Force hosts, a large portion of our air base defense was provided by the Royal 22e Régiment of the Canadian Army – the historic Québec-based “Van Doos”. They literally stood on guard for me.

I’m proud to have entered this year’s Canada Army Run, to raise money for my Canadian servicemember allies – my friends – even though I’ll be participating virtually. People have asked me, “But Mike, you’re not even Canadian, why?” Because I remember, you’re worth it, and I’ll stand on guard for thee.
