
Sergeant Laura Stuart Patterson – Canadian Women’s Army Corps
Laura “Stuart” Patterson (née Lydiard) joined the Canadian Women’s Army Corps (CWAC) during the Second World War. She was stationed at the Colonel Belcher Hospital and Curry Barracks in Calgary; Suffield, Alberta; and St. Anne de Bellevue in Quebec, working as a Laboratory Technician. She attained the rank of Sergeant during her military service and was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal.
Stuart is survived by three of her four children, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Her granddaughter Jill Ainsworth is running the Commander’s Challenge.
