This year I will run the Army Run 10K for the fifth consecutive year. I run because I have seen first-hand many of the challenges faced by veterans and serving members of the CAF, including physical and mental injuries, long periods away from family, and the loss of identity and struggle to find meaning after release from the military. Raising funds for Soldier On and Support Our Troops is my way of paying my respects and giving back to those who have sacrificed for Canada. My father and younger brother served in the Army, and I served in the Royal Canadian Navy. My father, CWO (ret’d) D. E. Bruce Hynes, served in the Army for 37 years. He passed away in January 2019.
