Private Zéphyrin Charbonneau joined the expeditionary forces lying about his age at the age of 17 forging the signature of his parents.
April 1, 1916 – July 22, 1919
At joining he was with 69th Battallion – 22nd Battallion – 2 Queen’s Regiment.
He fought on Vimy Ridge 1917, then went on to fight for another year before being wounded on April 1, 1918 when he was sent back to Canada after having his leg amputated with injuries that plagued him for the rest of his life.
He raised 7 children and died at the age of 91.
A proud military family with future generations serving – his son, grandson and great grandson.
