A new year means a new race calendar, and we hope you will be adding Canada Army Run, presented by BMO, to yours. Whether you are looking forward to an in-person race through the heart of downtown Ottawa or a virtual race that you can do from anywhere in the world, we have a lot of exciting plans for this September’s event.

We are looking forward to bringing back the hybrid format for 2023. The in-person Canada Army Run will take place Sunday, September 17 in Ottawa, while the virtual race window will be open from September 8 to September 29.

In-person half marathon

We are excited to announce the return of the in-person half marathon and 5K + Half Marathon Commander’s Challenge. This brings us to our full slate of in-person races for the first time since 2019, and we can’t wait to share a new 21.1-kilometre route with you.

New virtual challenge

If you are joining us virtually, you can look forward to two big changes. We are introducing a new 3 Star Challenge featuring the 5K + 10K + Half Marathon to replace the virtual Commander’s Challenge. “3 Star” is a military term referring to Lieutenant-General, the rank of the Commander Canadian Army. We challenge you to register for this new event and take on all three distances within the September 8-29 virtual race window!

Dog tag finisher medals for all virtual races

Following great response from our virtual audience, we are happy to announce that all virtual racers will now receive dog tag finisher medals, which have been a coveted item at our in-person events for so many years. You will receive a dog tag medal for each individual distance you are registered for. Challenge finishers will also receive a special challenge coin to go with their dog tags.
