On-Site Green Team
In support of Canada Army Run’s green initiatives, and in solidarity with their efforts, SURGE Activewear will plant trees to offset our carbon footprint that our event merchandise order will produce.
Planting 1 tree offsets 50lbs of carbon annually, or 1 ton of carbon in its lifetime (based on a 40-year lifespan per tree). Using averages calculated on the total cost of carbon it will take to ship the merchandise from Mexico City, Mexico, to Ottawa, Ontario, SURGE Activewear will plant 1,700 trees in 2019 to offset the carbon emissions for this event. We will also plant a tree for every merchandise item sold during race weekend.
All Canada Army Run finisher hats are made of REPREVE – a performance fibre made from recycled plastic bottles. We’re transitioning to REPREVE for all of our official race garments beginning in 2020.
Paper Cup Recycling
All cups along the course (over 180,000 of them!) will be picked up by volunteers and properly disposed of. All cups are made of biodegradable material.
These bags make great lunch bags or carriers for small items.
Heat Sheet Recycling Bins
If you are doing the half marathon, help us recycle the foil heat sheet you receive at the finish line by placing it in one of the special bins designed for that purpose.
Waste Disposal Bins
Recycling bins will be located throughout the grounds during Army Run race weekend. Please help us by placing your paper, glass, and plastic in them!
Bike Valet Service
Canada Army Run will be offering a supervised, complimentary bike parking service on site during race weekend. Please plan to pick up your bike 10 minutes before closing time.
