Army Equipment Display

When you pick up your Race Kit or drop in to the Sports Expo, plan to also spend some time at the Army Equipment Display, in front of Cartier Square Drill Hall, 2 Queen Elizabeth Drive (right beside City Hall).

Bring the family, come see the equipment and talk with more than 25 soldiers who will be available to answer questions.

Hours:
Friday, September 17, 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Saturday, September 18, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Here are some examples of the types of equipment you will see at this year’s display:

*

The M777 Lightweight 155mm Towed Howitzer

Used by the Artillery, it’s lighter and smaller, yet more powerful than any gun of its kind. The M777 can be used any time of the day or night, and under severe weather conditions.

*

The Buffalo (MIV)

The Buffalo provides a blast protective environment for an operator and crew while performing route clearance operations. Also known as a Mine Investigation Vehicle (MIV), it is equipped with a manipulator arm, an air digger, and a video camera that enable engineers to inspect suspected objects from a safe distance.

*

The LAV RWS

The LAV RWS is designed to increase soldier survivability in operations. Up armoured, and with ballistic seats, it offers some of the best protection for the troops. It is equipped with a remote weapon station, allowing the soldier to operate the weapon from within the vehicle's protection.

*

The Bison Ambulance

The Bison Ambulance is designed to provide a highly mobile, protected means of evacuating injured soldiers while on operations.

*

The LAV 25 Coyote

The LAV 25 Coyote is the work horse of the Canadian Armoured Reconnaissance Squadrons and is recognized throughout the world for its outstanding mobility, fire-power, and observation capabilities.
